Die Art ist international nach Anhang III WA gelistet. Sie ist zwar seit dem 31.8.1980 nach der VSR geschützt, war national jedoch als dem Jagdrecht unterliegende Art zunächst nicht besonders geschützt, sondern erst seit dem 1.6.1997 mit dem Schutz nach Anhang A EG.
